7th grader Carlos Cabrera received a certificate of recognition for coming to the aid of a man who was stuck in a manhole last Wednesday. The man appeared to have been trying to get out of the hole but he ended up waist deep in waste water. Carlos was walking to school when he heard the man's voice. The man was pulled from the manhole, saving his life! Great job Carlos!

Congrats to Calallen football coach Phil Danaher! He is the most winningest coach in Texas history at one school. Danaher gets his 400th win at Calallen with their playoff win over Edcouch Elsa Friday night 35-0.

More than 100 volunteers from across the country were in Aransas County this weekend to plant trees. A non-profit group called Retreet, traveled to the Coastal Bend to plant trees lost to Hurricane Harvey.
