It’s looking like a good weekend to get outdoors as we’ll see partly to mostly sunny skies, a light breeze and afternoon heat indices under 102 degrees. Although it will be hot, the humidity won’t be as high as last week. An isolated shower or storm can’t be ruled out this weekend but most areas will stay dry.
Early next week, a tropical wave of low pressure aloft will drift in from the east and over south Texas. Rain chances will increase from Monday night through Wednesday with scattered to numerous showers and t-storms. Temperatures will stay in the upper 80s due to clouds and rain in the area Tuesday and Wednesday.
Looking ahead to the 4th of July, medium range forecast models indicate we’ll be drying out and heating up as the tropical wave moves out and high pressure aloft rebuilds over Texas. Hot, humid and windy weather returns for the holiday.
Tonight: Partly cloudy with lows in the low to mid 70s inland and upper 70s at the beaches. Winds will stay under 10 mph from the southeast.
Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny and hot with highs in the mid 90s inland to the upper 80s at the beaches and southeast winds at 6-12 mph. Heat indices will climb up to 102 at peak heating.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with an isolated storm chance and highs in the low to mid 90s inland and in the upper 80s at the beaches and southeast winds at 7-14 mph.
