CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority unveiled its newest bus stop on Friday morning. The new stop is located in West Oso.

The RTA is calling the bus stop a "school spirit" bus shelter. It's decked out in the West Oso District's signature colors or red and black. And of course, their bear mascot is prominently featured.

In August, the RTA showed off its "school spirit" bus shelter located at Miller High School.

The RTA's goal is to promote safety for students while building a relationship between schools and the RTA bus system.

“The spirit behind it is that they can come to school - obviously we do provide transportation as well - but sometimes they need additional help and support with that,” West Oso ISD superintendent Conrado Garcia said. “RTA certainly fills that gap."

The new stop is located in front of West Oso Junior High where students and staff participated in the high-energy ribbon cutting ceremony this morning.

Earlier this week, the RTA unveiled its first SMART stop in the area. It's located near the Garcia Memorial Family Health Center at CHRISTUS Spohn.
