CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority unveiled new bus stops to encourage school spirit in CCISD.

They hosted a high-energy ribbon cutting ceremony Monday afternoon complete with marching band and cheerleaders from Miller High School.

The RTA is calling the new bus stops, School Spirit Bus Shelters. They're designed specifically with each CCISD high school color and mascot.

These shelters are being used to promote safety for students while also building a relationship between each school and the RTA bus system.

"We want to provide a safe environment for our students that are going to be our next generation riders. we want to build a relationship between our schools and the RTA and what better way than to do a school spirit bus stop," said Jorge Cruzaedo with the RTA.

Monday's ribbon cutting ceremony took place at Miller High School. School Spirit Bus Shelters will be unveiled at high schools across the district throughout the fall.
