CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It looks like it could be a rather stormy weekend here in the Coastal Bend.

We are tracking a tropical depression in the center of the Gulf of Mexico that is likely to strengthen to a tropical storm on Friday as it gets closer to South Texas.

A Tropical Storm Warning has already been issued for our coastal counties. We can expect scattered showers ahead of the storm tomorrow, with a daytime high of 93 degrees. Winds will be light out of the north at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

The storm likely will make landfall early on Saturday morning. It will be named Hanna if it does develop into a tropical storm, as anticipated.

We can expect sustained winds around 50 miles per hour with some wind gusts around 60 miles per hour. This storm will also produce locally heavy rainfall. Some areas could get between 3-6 inches of rain.

A few spots could get more that 8 inches. This could lead to some possible flooding both Saturday and Sunday. People should monitor the weather very closely the next couple of days.
