CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Those excessive Heat Warnings over parts of the Coastal Bend this afternoon are likely to be needed again Tuesday, and the high heat indices should persist through Thursday.

However, the upper ridge causing the heat splits by Friday, allowing cooler air and scattered storms a weekend visit to the area.

Extreme heat and humidity has dictated a Heat Advisory for this afternoon, with both Kleberg and Jim Wells Counties under an Excessive Heat Warning.

That means conditions in those areas are life threatening. We can expect that again on Tuesday.

Heat advisories will be needed likely through Thursday. After that, upper air conditions become conducive for allowing a weak cold front to provide some relief.

Expect less heat along with scattered thunderstorms Friday and Saturday, with slightly below normal temperatures through the weekend. Highs will remain in the 90s and lows from the lower 80s to lower 70s.
