CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 34-year-old woman is the city's latest murder victim.
She was shot to death at the Valley Motel on the 5300 block of Leopard Street around 4:45 a.m. Her identity has not yet been released. Police say she was dead by the time they arrived at the scene.
According to report, the shooter apparently fired several shots from outside of the room.
"I can tell you, it's very preliminary right now but we do know that this is not a random act of violence. It appears that the individuals knew one another," said Deputy Chief Billy Breedlove.
Police wouldn't say if they have a suspect. They did say there were other people inside the room but no one else was hurt. None of the neighboring rooms were hit by gunfire either.
