The animals are currently being cared for at Animal Care Services and a local rescue clinic that volunteered to help.
Several veterinarians are working to check out every animal after they were removed from Pets and More Plus inside the Trade Center. Corpus Christi Animal Care Services said several complaints were made against the store regarding the living conditions of the animals.
ACS officers made recommendations to the store owner after finding several violations including overcrowding and empty food and water bowls. On Friday, officers took the animals after they found the store owner failed to comply with their recommendations.
The owner of the store could face animal cruelty charges.
