TxDOT crews conducted an evacuation drill along Hwy. 77 between Robstown and Calallen on Tuesday morning.
It was called a contraflow exercise.
Contraflow is when vehicles travel in the opposite direction of the highway's normal flow, usually in the case of an emergency.
For example, in the case of Hwy. 77 all lanes would be converted to northbound only.
Contraflow converts the southbound lane into an evacuation route.
