CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Positivity and love, that was the purpose of one movement who took these actions to our city streets.
The idea behind this new movement started here in Corpus Christ by a James Ward.
The movement is called Spread the Love.
Organizer James Ward says instead of spreading negativity to others, folks should take time out and be kind to one another and that could also bring the community a sense of togetherness.
“That little bit of extra kindness goes a long way,” says Ward.
On the side of the road of Airline Road and South Padre Island Drive positive messages read, “Smile you got this” or “Believe there is good in the world,” were displayed for the community to see.
And drivers noticed the encouragement and heard the support.
“If me sweating a little bit means the difference between changing somebody’s life, that's all that matters,” says Ward.
Ward reveals that one evening, he decided to stand alone with a positive message for everyone.
From there, he said the response was amazing because others wanted to join and stand with him.
Ward also says you never know what someone is going through.
Local families have made their creative signs in hopes to spark the community in participating.
“The responsibility of being kind to everyone else that they come into contact with is something that they can always benefit generations to come,” says Erik Haner.
Ward also says that plans to be back at the corner of Airline and SPID the following week at 4 pm till 6 pm to continue to Spread the Love.
