CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Police are warning people about the dangers of skimming devices. Skimmers have evolved to become even smaller and more sophisticated.

The device allows thieves to steal your bank information in seconds. In less than a minute a thief is able to unlock a gas pump panel and attach skimming hardware without ever being detected.

"Technology is improving, and crooks are taking advantage of that. A lot of these credit card skimming devices are wireless or Bluetooth," explains Detective Ramiro Torres with the Corpus Christi Police Department, "They don't even have to come back for them. They will install it and get close enough to get the information, credit card numbers, and just leave them in there."

People should always be careful when using credit cards at the grocery store, gas station, or ATM.
Anyone whose debit or credit card was compromised should contact police.
