Police say two juveniles are in the hospital after one of them reportedly stole her mom's car, picked up the other juvenile, and crashed it into a railroad track in a short police chase.

According to officials, a 13-year-old Portland girl stole her mother's vehicle last night and managed to drive it to Sinton to pick up a 14-year-old boy.

"Sinton PD responded and engaged in a short chase with 3 of our deputies assisting. The chase ended in a crash striking the railroad track in town & partially derailed the track." said San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera in a post this morning.

The two juveniles were transported to the hospital. We don't have any updates on their condition.

Because of the damage to the rail, a two-mile long train had to be halted to avoid a full train derailment.
