CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hamlin Fountains & Gifts is celebrating its 59th Anniversary Friday and Saturday. Many locals showed up to their favorite haunt today to enjoy the great deals.
All day Friday, the shop is sold ice cream cones for 59 cents. The shop is decorated with balloons, streamers and lots of other fun party decor. Customers also took advantage of the 59 percent off sales on gifts and clothing all while listening to fun 1960's music. They were also taken back to the sock hop era with a Bubble Blowing contest, trivia games from the 1960's and a photo op/booth with a cutout of "local legend" Jesse Lerma who has worked at Hamlin since day one.
The shop, previously known as the Hamlin Pharmacy is located at the Hamlin Shopping Center on the corner of Doddridg/Weber Rd. and Staples St. The name changed last year after the pharmacy portion closed when the owner who was a pharmacist retired. And in case you haven't been, the Hamlin Shopping Center is marked by a statue of a couple looking at a classic 1950's car on the corner of the lot.
If you missed out on the fun Friday, it's happening again Saturday.
