CCPD: 78-year-old woman dies after fight with relative 33 years younger

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police say an elderly woman who was involved in a family brawl in her home died.

The incident happened last night at a home on the 400 block of Stages Drive near Oso Golf Course.

According to police, a 45-year-old woman went to the home of 78-year-old Barbara Grayeda. Officers tell us they were related. The two women then got into a disturbance. According to Lt. Michael Peña, the 45-year-old left the residence when the elderly woman left to a neighbors to call 911.

Officers arrived on the scene around 7 p.m. and found the elderly woman unresponsive. CPR was performed then she was transported to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline where she later died. The cause of her death is still unknown.

Charges have not been filed against the 45-year-old woman. Investigators are waiting for autopsy results.

Lt. Pena said they are not revealing the relationship between the 45-year old woman and the victim at this time.
