Flex-Fit-Gym 24/7 closed with no notice on Sunday evening, and the company that has taken over their memberships is not saying how they acquired them, how many customers are affected and how the transition affects key personal and financial information.

Freedom Fitness company officials on Monday afternoon said only that Flex-Fit-Gym members are now considered Freedom Fitness members. It is not known whether Flex-Fit employees will become Freedom Fitness employees.

Flex-Fit-Gym closed its Alameda Street and Saratoga Street locations on, April 28th. An affiliated training center, downtown, remained open on Monday evening.

The chain’s location in Flour Bluff shut down a year ago.

The company pushed the news out via social media, late Monday afternoon.

Freedom Fitness spokesman Jake Garry said Freedom Fitness “acquired” the memberships from Flex Fit, but called details beyond that a “private matter.”

Garry would not say whether the Freedom Fitness received member information from Flex Fit.

Questions on how many customers are affected and whether Flex Fit members who wish to cancel their new – if unwanted – Freedom Fitness memberships, also were not answered. Instead, Garry instructed Flex Fit members to call or visit the nearest Freedom Fitness location to discuss individual memberships.

“Flex Fitness is no longer in business but Freedom Fitness is serving their members. We look forward to adding them to the Freedom Fitness family,” he said.
