Today is Arbor Day and students over at Gloria Hicks Elementary really got into the spirit of things.

It’s a tradition to plant a tree on Arbor Day and with some help from Hicks Family Subaru that’s what these students did today.  The dealership donated 700 live oak saplings for the students to plant.

“All the trees go home and then they, with the help of their parents, hopefully they plant them and in a few years we have 700 extra trees,” said Roger Moore, General Manager, Hicks Family Subaru.

The soil and pots for the saplings were also donated.   The Nueces County Master Gardener’s Club and the Garden Club at St. John Paul II High School also helped sponsor today’s event.
