The Easter Sunrise Passion Play is a Corpus Christi tradition that dates back to 1942. Last year, it involved over 150 locals and this year, there is room for even more.
The 77th edition of the traditional favorite will take place at 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 21 (Easter Sunday) at the Cole Park Amphitheater. Everyone is invited to attend and encouraged to bring along a chair or blanket on which to sit.
One of the fun and unique parts of this live reenactment of the life of Jesus is that it allows locals the chance to come out an showcase their talents. As it turns out this year, actors are still needed for several roles. Because there are no speaking parts, there are no lines to remember, and both children and adults are always needed.
Those who are shy or whose talents do not lead them to an acting role may be able to help with some of the behind-the-scenes work.
A rehearsal will be held on Saturday, April 20.from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
