A Corpus Christi resident will celebrate her 100th birthday this Sunday.

Fidela “Lilly” Jimenez was born in Mexico in 1919 when her family moved to a farm in Lindenau Texas.

Her husband, World War II veteran Alfonso Jimenez, is close behind at 99 years old. They have been married for a total of 72 years. They have a grand total of four children, four children-in-law, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jimenez and her husband are founding members of  Holy Family Catholic Church and have been involved in the community since it started 7 decades ago.

“She has been active in her church since helping raise funds to build the original structure that stands today.” Jessica Durkin says in a press release. “From the 1950s through the 1970s she was involved with the Guadalupanas group that planned church events and fundraisers; she was also a Fisher, who would organize neighborhood Catholics to attend Mass, and she was a Eucharistic minister.”

The birthday celebration will kick off at 10:30 am with a mass at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by a big party with all her friends and family.
