The Harbor Bridge lights changed to blue and green tonight, in honor of National Donate Life month.

The change happened around 7:30 this evening and people gathered at Hester’s Cafe at the Art Museum to witness the spectacle and honor local organ donors who have saved lives in South Texas.

The lights will shine like this through April 7th and will honor the 27 local organ donors who saved a total of 64 lives in 2018. The lights also serve as a reminder to encourage people to consider donating their organs as well.

According to the Southwest Transplant Alliance, over 10,000 Texans are waiting for a transplant and on average, 20 Americans die every day waiting for a life-saving organ.
