The district attorney says a third woman who earlier claimed Dr. Jaime Sandoval sexually assaulted her has now decided not to proceed with filing charges.
Attorney Lisa Greenberg, who is among Sandoval’s attorneys, has said Sandoval will remain in jail. But at this time it’s up to the district attorney’s office to determine how to proceed.
During a hearing this morning in the 347th District Court and Judge Missy Medary, the third accuser has joined two other women who changed their statements on their original accusations against Sandoval.
The third accuser, who is said to be in her 40s or 50s, would have needed to be brought in for an additional statement.
And as for the two other women who previously accused Sandoval, those charges have been reduced to misdemeanors.
Sandoval has jailed since late last year.
It is up to the district attorney’s office to determine how to proceed next.
This is a breaking story and we’ll have more on it as it develops.
