The City of Corpus Christi will receive an ambulance bus this Spring.

Back in August, the Corpus Christi Fire Department received a grant to buy an ambulance bus called an ambus.
The Ambus allows paramedics to treat and transport up to 20 patients at a time. That will come in handy in case of a natural disaster.

Corpus Christi Fire Chief Robert Rocha said the bus will arrive sometime in March or April. It will respond to various parts of the Coastal Bend.

During an interview in August, Chief Rocha told KRIS 6 News after after Hurricane Harvey, the fire department realized they really needed one. “We saw that we needed some assistance with was the ability to transport patients, a number of patients that are ambulatory out of the city. We were able to pursue a grant and working with our local regional advisory committee. We were able to secure a $577,000 ambus.”
