The Downtown Management District has teamed up with the Corpus Christi Police Department to launch the downtown camera network in an effort to make the area safer for visitors and business owners.
With funding from the Downtown Re-investment Zone, cameras will be installed at intersections along Chaparral and adjacent streets, keeping an eye on downtown streets to make sure people are safe.
“We hope that these cameras will create additional feelings of safety for downtown visitors and residents and really deter anyone who is looking to commit a crime,” says Alyssa Barrera with the Downtown Management District.
The new downtown cameras will be added to the network of cameras the police department already has around the city.
