Corpus Christi-Nueces County health employees say they found 17 dead mice inside a local movie theater.

Employees with the city’s health district say they discovered the dead rodents during a recent inspection. The theater is located in the 5200 Block of Silverberry Drive.

The issue came up after a woman posted a video on social media.

My daughter went to the AMC theatre here in Corpus last night . This is why we stop going ! This place needs to be torn down !!! Video is blurry but clears up at the end

Health officials say the theater has to follow their action plan because of the discovery.

Furthermore, city employees say if the theater doesn’t follow their action plan, they will be forced to close the theater.

Lauren Rabe, who is a division manager with the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Health District, says the reason why the theater is seeing an increase in the rodents is because movie employees have closed off open spaces.

Therefore, the mice can’t come in or leave the building.

In a statement today, AMC spokesperson Kinmberly Sanden says:

We are taking this situation seriously and have implemented significant treatment and prevention measures at the theatre. We will continue to address any problems until all issues are resolved.
