The Padre Island National Seashore says current conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are speeding up the return of red tide to the Texas Coast.
According to PINS, red tide levels in the area have reached the point that it may begin to negatively impact park visitors.
PINS says it has been monitoring red tide levels in the park since it first appeared in Port Aransas, and although the park itself will not close, elevated levels may lead to beach closures.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department investigated a fish kill in Packery Basin on Sept. 12 and reports water samples collected in the area identified a localized red tide bloom.
TPWD says samples were also collected at Bob Hall Pier and Mustang Island State Park, and although no red tide cells were detected at those sites, a slight aerosol irritation was observed.
