Corpus Christi police responded to a Southside convenience store after receiving reports on Monday about a man who caused damage to a credit card reader at a gas pump.

The incident occurred at a convenience store near the intersection of Everhart and Holly Road.

Officers say preliminary information reports indicate manager told officers that a man was able to get access to a credit card reader. Once he opened a locked part of the machine, he removed a device.

Police say workers told them they believe it was a skimming device.

Police contacted store employees about 3:20 p.m., reviewing the surveillance video.

The incident remains under investigation, pending review by detectives.
