Corpus Christi Police are keeping their eyes peeled for distracted drivers, particularly those in school zones.

Officers are looking for speeders as well as distracted drivers during morning and afternoon school zone hours.  Just minutes into the afternoon school zone period near Evans Elementary, Officer Olden cited this driver for driving 8 miles per hour over the speed limit.

“The reason why I stopped you, you were doing 23 miles an hour. Did you see the school zone signs? The flashing lights?,” said Officer Richard Olden.

Because that driver was in a school zone, his citation will cost him double.  Police say all tickets issued in school zones are doubled.
