A family is hoping the back windshield of their car will help them find a kidney donor for their loved one.
Julian Garza has been battling diabetes for 16 years. The chronic illness has severely deteriorated his health to the point one of his kidney’s is not functioning properly.
Due to diabetes running strong in his family, family members do not qualify as donors. To prolong his life, Garza started dialysis joining the waiting list for a transplant from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
The average wait time is three to five years, but families could wait up to ten years.
After three years of dialysis with no donor in sight, instead of watching Garza continue to suffer, his wife Molly Cruz-Garza placed a si gn in her back windshield.
