Its called Veterans 101. But what is it?

Martin Longoria a retired major in the army spearheads the program.. he said, “I guess you can call it an educational series.”

And the goal is simple.

“We’re trying to educate the veterans on different subjects within veterans benefits,” added Longoria.

The reason is simple, many people serving in our armed services get out and spend their time trying to find their way through all the red tape for Veteran services.

Mike Balipanni was one of them. He spent 4 years in the Navy and when he got out, he didn’t know anything about Medicare or Medicade or where to go to get help.

“People today don’t know that their entitled to this care. It’s a right that we have, to all veterans, whether you served a little of a lot,” said Belipanni.

Saturday’s subject matter is health care versus medicare. There are many ways a veteran can take care of their health care and, with this 101 class, there questions can be answered.

“So this is the time to where we can bring in those experts to to answer those questions and help the veteran. Ya know what’s the best fit for me,” concluded Longoria.

The seminar is at 10:00 this Saturday, August 25 at the Del Mar Center for Economic Development.
