Gov. Greg Abbott's announcement Friday that schools will remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year also signals the end of the UIL seasons.
The University Interscholastic League is the organization that governs Texas high school sports and other extracurricular activities.
The end of the possibility of returning to campus this school year means baseball, soccer, softball and tennis players, who are among the participants in UIL activities, have played their last game for Spring 2020, and seniors have played their final varsity games and competed in their final meets.
Other non-sports UIL activities include band, drama and journalism.
