The nation’s top spellers are in Fort Washington, Md., today for the 92nd Scripps National Spelling Bee.
The competition runs through Thursday.
It began yesterday with the preliminary tests.
A total of 567 competitors from across the country are vying for the title of National Spelling Bee Champ.
Four Coastal Bend students are taking part in the competition.
They are currently participating in the second round.
Among those from our area still spelling include:
- Edmund Thomas, seventh grader, Incarnate Word Academy.
- Maya Mollick, sixth grader, Adkins Middle School.
- Isaac Elliot, eighth grader, Baker Middle School.
- Adrian Lawrence, fifth grader, Blaschke-Sheldon Elementary School, Ingleside.
