Phoenix, AZ. – Firefighters got a heartbreaking 9-1-1 call Wednesday afternoon from a 16-year-old girl, who said her baby half sister wasn’t breathing after she pulled her out of the toilet.

Rescuers arrived at the home and started C-P-R, and rushed the baby away to Phoenix Children’s Hospital; all in about 42 seconds. Unfortunately  the baby later died at the hospital.

The baby’s parents weren’t home at the time.

The teenager was babysitting her siblings – the baby and a toddler.

Police have a homicide unit investigating because there are so many ways the baby could have gotten into the toilet.

Firefighters say it’s possible the baby may have pulled herself into the toilet.

They have seen children drown in buckets before.

This is a painful reminder that a child can drown in just a couple of inches of water.
