If all goes as planned, the Columbus replica ship, La Niña will be taking a trip across the bay soon. She sank in the marina about a week ago.

She was finally raised on Saturday.  Now La Niña is being prepped for a trip to Aransas Pass in about a month.  Weather conditions and calm waters on the bay will determine when that trip can be made.  Marina officials say they’re hopeful La Niña can be repaired.  Loose fittings on part of the hull caused a hole that led to last week’s sinking.  La Niña sank previously in 2017 a few days after Hurricane Harvey hit the Coastal Bend.

The City of Corpus Christi is ready to hand over the helm to a new owner.  So far the city has had six viable options including the City of Aransas Pass.  The other two Columbus ship replicas, La Pinta and the Santa Maria were destroyed after major deterioration occurred to the ships.
