A $100,000 donation is making all the difference at Peewee’s Pet Adoption World and Sanctuary.

The donation came from the estate of Harvey Gene Grossman, a prominent Corpus Christi lawyer, and animal lover.

The Shelter used the funds to build an animal hospital on site. The Harvey Grossman Animal Hospital is connected to their Madison Clinic, a donation from the same family.

Shelter director Ernie Cochran says this will allow them to continue taking in sick animals that would otherwise be euthanized in other shelters.

“From as far away as Taft, Sinton, Driscoll,” says director Ernie Cochran.

The new facility is 800 square feet, can house up to 34 sick animals. Cochran says it provides a clean and safe environment for them to recover.

“It has heating, air-conditioning and stainless steel cages that don’t absorb microbes and can be disinfected with the proper things, wonderful lighting so we can actually look at wounds and treat them daily,” says Cochran.

The hospital is specifically for sick shelter animals, but that includes animals at Peewee’s as well as surrounding shelters.
