Areas of the Comal River is temporarily closed for recreational activity while cleanup crews work to remove spilled hydraulic fluid.  According KSAT, a railroad crew busted a hydraulic line and the liquid poured into the river.

The New Braunfels Fire Department has provided boats in the cleanup efforts.  Crews are working to clean up approximately 30 gallons of fluid that spilled on the rail bridge above Texas Tubes.

Park rangers are notifying visitors of the closure at Hinman Island and Prince Solms Parks.

The City of New Braunfels says they will assess the situation once cleanup is completed and decide early morning whether to open up the river.
