MEXICO – A leader for a Mexican crime syndicate and drug trafficking organization was arrested today in Mexico. Homeland Security says law enforcement have Miguel González Mercado, “alias Flaco Sierra”, in custody thanks to an awareness campaign that kicked off in the early part of June this year.
The campaign called Campaña de Seguridad y Prosperidad “Se Busca Informacion” listed Mercado as the number two target on all campaign content and signage.
The campaign was developed and designed to up security along the South Texas Corridor as well as solidify the collaboration of crime-fighting efforts of law enforcement agencies, state offices, municipal governments, and private industry working diligently to dismantle criminal organizations.
Details about the arrest have not been released. The case is still under investigation.
