After more than 70 years the iconic toy store, Toys "R" Us, is closing their doors for good.

Shoppers have four days left to take advantage of markdowns.  The toy company filed for bankruptcy last September and announced they would close all their stores this year.  After months of closing sales, the final day is Friday, June 29th.

Locally, the shop has been on Airline Rd since the 80’s.  Shoppers say the store always made them feel like a kid and they are sad to see it close.

“Sad because it’s my favorite place,” says Becca Salazar.

“There’s not many toy stores in Corpus Christi, in the area at all, so it’s definitely going to be a little bit of a loss,” says Tara Murray.

“Sales are excellent… but I would rather pay full price than seeing it go,” says Sharmeen Ahmed.

Shoppers can expect sales from 60 to 90 percent off.  To fill in the gap, retailer Party City, announced they will be opening 50 temporary toy shops alongside their seasonal Halloween stores.  Those stores will open early September through the holiday season.
