DENTON – A Denton man is facing serious charges after law enforcement officials in Tarrant County say he punched and killed an infant.
According to Denton Police Department, 24-year-old Emilio Morales was arrested by police detectives just after 5:00 pm Monday after he admitted he struck the baby.
In a news release posted on social media, police say at 7:09 am on June 24, 2018, officers went to the residence to assist Denton Fire/Rescue Paramedics responding to an unconscious person call.
The news release continued paramedics determined that the child was deceased and during the investigation into the death, detectives observed bruises and abrasions on the child’s body.
An autopsy revealed that the child had sustained serious bodily injury consistent with an assault. The child’s father, Emilio Morales was interviewed by detectives and admitted to striking the infant in the head several times with a closed fist.
Morales was charged and arrested and is facing a first degree felony.
