Hot and steamy for the weekend

If you stepped outside on Friday, you most certainly noticed it – the humidity. It’s become “extra” intense thanks to all the recent rains in our area. All of the moisture in the ground is adding to the humidity levels in the air. The steaminess will be around through the weekend, but we may have another chance for rain in sight.

Saturday’s forecast

The biggest change of all for our weather on Saturday will be an increase in winds. Wind speeds will be anywhere from 20 to 25 mph. This is going to increase the rip current risk and will make the Gulf waters a little extra choppy.

Besides the wind, this weekend should be a fantastic beach weekend. We’ll have plenty of sunshine with only a few passing clouds. High temperatures will be in the low 90s, but once again, the extra humidity will make the heat index soar well over 100°.

Sunday’s forecast

We’ll see more sunshine for Sunday with more breezy conditions. The hot and steamy weather will remain as well with highs in the low 90s.

Monday and Tuesday

A week disturbance in the atmosphere will move close to our area for the start of the week. There will also be an increase in moisture in the atmosphere during this time. This will lead to the potential of some stray to isolated showers and storms for Monday and Tuesday. The rain is not expected to be anything like what we saw over the past week. In fact, there will likely be many locations, if not most locations, that miss out on rainfall.
