Rockport is celebrating the return of their iconic “Rockport Strong” sign.
The sign was taken from the wall of Rowdy Maui’s shop on Tuesday.
The sign, a piece of debris with spray painted words, became a beacon of hope to the Rockport community after Hurricane Harvey.
They say it showed the towns resilience and became an attraction.
Locals, volunteers, and visitors often stopped by to take pictures.
After missing for a few days, it’s been found.
Rowdy Maui co-owner Kacie Mahlmann says she received a Facebook message Friday morning, a lady spotted their sign, and after confirming that it was the stolen sign brought it to the shop.
"I was just speechless,” says Kacie Mahlmann. “So she very kindly brought it back over for us, now it’s here, and we can’t believe it and we’re so happy and just so grateful to whoever dropped it off and to Brandi.”
The sign will be placed on the wall on Saturday.
Rowdy Maui is hosting a celebration from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
They invite everyone to go and enjoy live music, take pictures and even have some cocktails.
