Padre Island National Seashore’s South Beach is currently closed because of high tides.  A post was recently made on Facebook that said the closure was due to safety concerns over the current storm.

As of yet, park rangers do not know when the beach will reopen.  They said they will continue evaluating the conditions and make a decision.

Park rangers do not advise any swimming or wading because the tide is higher and the surf is turbulent.

That means there is a high risk of rip currents.

Friday looks to be a day for improved conditions but rangers recommend checking the weather before planning a trip there.
