CORPUS CHRISTI – Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend honored local veterans in a special way today.
The organization staff and volunteers treated veterans to a steak lunch.
About 80 vets and their families dined on the delicious meal that included all the trimmings in the Salvation Army hall decorated in red, white and blue.
"We serve them a meal they don’t have to pay for. We wait on them, we serve it to them. We bring it out to them. Just to thank them for their service and just to tell them that we love them. And how appreciative we are for all they’ve done for our country." Captain Patrick Gesner, Salvation Army Commanding Officer.
This is the fifth year the Salvation Army has hosted this thank you luncheon.
