A new record of 49 kite-boarders launched from Violet Andrews park in Portland. This is the 5th annual Bay Crossing event in which kite-boarding brand reps from all over the world participate.
They trek 5.5 miles across the Corpus Christi Bay to Fajitaville on North Beach, fuel up on drinks and food then trek 5.5 miles back.
Tomorrow will be demo day, where the latest in performance gear will be on display. The event begins at around 11 AM, it is free and open to the public.
"This is one of the windiest spots on average for the whole US and it’s kind of like the hidden place and now a lot of kiters are finding out about, people from all over the world and they come because we have some of the best winds in all of North America," Jeff Howard, owner of kite-boarding.com told KZTV.
