CORPUS CHRISTI – Guy Watts submitted a resignation letter and the Del Mar College Board of Regents is holding a special session to discuss how they want to handle it.

It’s not known when the District Four Regent submitted the letter because it’s not dated, but the letter addresses three Board members and mentions a court trial between a Texas college and one of its professors .  The special session is being held to discuss the "possible action" in response to the letter.  The second agenda item listed is a closed session to consult with legal counsel.

Watt’s used quotes around several words and phrases.  He begins the letter with "Having gone through ‘heart surgery’, I simply cannot risk Augie’s ‘stress game; so please consider this has my ‘resignation’ as District Four Regent on the DMC Board."

The rest of the letter cites free speech and refers to the Wetherbe vs. Texas Tech court hearing in the Court of Appeals.

The public have an opportunity to comment before the Board takes action however there are applicable restrictions or requirements.  Del Mar College will live stream the open session agenda items on their website.
