Volunteers are still needed to help with clean up efforts in Port Aransas.  It’s been more than seven months since Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast.
The mayor of Port Aransas says volunteers have helped a lot, but they are only about 45 % done in the recovery efforts.
In Port Aransas alone about 6,500 volunteers have worked nearly 40,000 hours.

The city invites more people come to help.

"It will take years for us to get fully recovered, and the man hours that we need to repair homes, roofs, businesses, is enormous," Jeffrey Hentz, Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce.

The Port Aransas Chamber estimates it’ll need a total of 100,000 hours to get most of Port Aransas back on its feet.
Here’s some good news…around 60% of businesses there are expected to open by Memorial day.
