Call after call and email after email to our station deals with the same thing.

People getting ripped off by a contractor.

One of the safeguards to insure your project goes smoothly could be in obtaining a building permit before it’s too late.

"Many homeowners contact me want to investigate if their contractor has obtained the proper permits for the work. And many times they do not," said Gene Delauro from the City of Corpus Christi’s Developmental Services.

Delauro adds to always check even if the contractor told you he has a permit, "its not enough that they tell you they have one you need to ask for it."

And it needs to be posted somewhere on the property.

So if you don’t see one, go to developmental services.

"We’re happy to validate any permit that is provided to any homeowner and make sure we can get the inspection done and all the work has been done properly," said Delauro.

It may save you a lot of money and heartache.

Development Services is located at 2406 Leopard Suite 100
