A man accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend, Breanna Wood, has been denied of his request.
At the beginning of May, attorney’s for the accused murderer, Joseph Tejeda, asked for District Attorney Mark Gonzalez and the assistant DA to be removed from his case.
Tejeda wanted them removed because assistant DA Matthew Manning had previously represented Tejeda in a burglary case.
At the time of the case, Manning worked as a defense attorney under current District Attorney Mark Gonzalez.
During a hearing for Tejeda Monday afternoon, Judge Jack Pulcher denied his request.
Following Judge Pulcher’s decision to deny Tejeda’s request, Action 10 got a chance to speak with Breanna’s mother, Fallon Wood.
"I’m super excited. I have complete confidence in Mark, our D.A. He’s fired up. He’s ready. We’re ready and now we’re coming."
Breanna Wood was missing for three months before her body was found in an abandoned home near Bluntzer.
