It was a lively gathering at Cabaniss baseball field, held in honor of the Veteran’s Memorial baseball program. The Eagles defeated Kerrville Tivy over the weekend and punched their ticket to the 5A State Tournament in Round Rock. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm on the infamous Dell Diamond.

Cheer squads from across the CCISD school district showed up to support the teams accomplishments. There were dignitaries present as well as a DJ and the Eagle band. However, head baseball coach, Lee Yeager really just wants his squad to keep a level head.

"Now it’s just a mental preparation and they settle down and don’t get caught up in all the hype and every body is talking about how good and how great these guys are you know just don’t get caught up in the hype and go play your game and not doing anything out of the ordinary and keeping everything consistent and just go play their game," he said.

The Eagles will face the Forney Jackrabbits in the first round of state, for which they depart from their practice field, tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 9am.
