Texas A&M Corpus Christi men’s basketball senior Joseph Kilgore was be honored at the Corpus Christi City Council Meeting on Tuesday April 24. Mayor Joe McComb presented a proclamation declaring Wednesday, April 25, as Joseph Kilgore Day in Corpus Christi. April 25 is also Kilgore’s 22nd birthday.
The proclamation was at the beginning of the day’s agenda.
Kilgore won the 2018 State Farm College Slam Dunk Contest Championship on March 29 at St. Mary’s University as part of the NCAA Final Four festivities in San Antonio, Texas. His performance earned a spot on ESPN’s Top 10 that evening.
"It’s crazy, I mean I’m thankful for it though. It’s a blessing so…I just thank God to be in this position and just take it all in while I can. I got my family with me so it’s a great feeling," Kilgore said of the honor.
