Council members of City Hall approved the first reading on a lease agreement for a new regional sports complex to be built on the Southside.  The plot of land is located along State Highway 286 and FM-43, near the Church Unlimited.

The agreement is with SQH Sports and Entertainment to run the 203 acre facility.

The design plans boast 12 baseball and softball fields, several soccer fields, 10 sand volleyball courts and a field-house with six full size basketball courts.

"To get something going like this in Corpus would bring the Houston’s, the Dallas area coming down here to this city would be great. Good competition, bring good competition down here. There’s a lot of competition in Corpus, the bad thing Corpus has to travel elsewhere to play at real good complexes," Aaron Gonzalez, the owner of Golden Glove Academy said.
