Restaurants in the Coastal Bend continue to open their dining rooms to host a higher capacity as the Texas economy reopens.
During the busy tourist season, they are hoping to show off the flavors of Corpus Christi. And many of them, like House of Rock downtown or Saltwater Grill, are looking to hire.
"We are looking for cooks, we're looking for people who want to work in the kitchen with pizzas, salads and sandwiches," House of Rock owner Casey Lain said. "Job descriptions have changed. Now we need people to do any type of service position."
Downtown's House of Rock is one of the more popular restaurants in the area.
Victor Delgado started working at the restaurant during the pandemic and loves the atmosphere.
"I am a people person," Delgado said. "I love interacting with our great staff."
For those looking to work at the House of Rock, all you have to do is go into the restaurant and tell Lain that you are interested in applying for a position.
Lain said working on his team is more of an experience than it is a job.
"If you are a music fan or just an entertainment fan in general, we offer so much," he said.
Saltwater Grill, on the city's south side, also is hiring. It is in desperate need of employees as they continue to open up more of its dining room.
"We're struggling to have enough front-of-the-house staff to service customers," owner Paul Hatridge said. "If we were at 100 percent capacity I wouldn't have enough employees."
The seafood restaurant has been around for eight years. Hatridge is looking for employees that can roll with the punches of the restaurant industry to join the Saltwater Grill family.
"It's pretty hectic, very busy but once it is over it is time to relax," Hatridge said. "We have great people working here."
The owners of both restaurants have been in the industry for decades. They are hoping to add employees to their teams that can help their businesses thrive once again.
